The
Broome County YMCA is partnering with Levene, Gouldin & Thompson to
invite all businesses to this fun, semi-competitive event that helps
support YMCA youth programming. The event offers a great social, team
building and healthy activity for members of our business community.
Maximizing
the Experience
There
are a number of obvious benefits to participating in the Corporate
Challenge, such as health promotion, team building, camaraderie
development, and a fun social event, but there are also Corporate
benefits to consider.
|
|
With
over 650 participants representing over 30 different companies, this is
a great opportunity to advertise. Each team is encouraged to pitch a
tent, show off their company logo, and also ‘talk-up’ their
business. Runners can also wear corporate athletic shirts to run in, and
there’s always the option of event sponsorship.
Sponsorships
range from $250 and up, and your company logo would be displayed on all
participant and volunteer shirts.

The
Corporate Challenge is held at Broome Community College and includes four races:
-
The
5k
race,
which is just that - a race over 5 kilometers, all of which is run
on campus to avoid heavy traffic.
-
The
Predicted
mile:
Held over a 1-mile course, participants must register their
‘expected’ time prior to the race start, and the challenge is to
cover the course in your ‘predicted’ time.
-
The
1-mile
relay:
Teams consist of 3 runners - One over 40 years of age, One female,
and One ‘open’. Each team member runs a 1-mile course.
-
The
Executive
mile:
An opportunity for the head of your business to test themselves
against their peers over a 1-mile course

****FAQ****
Can
small companies compete?
Absolutely,
you only need one person to represent your company, regardless of
corporate size.
Can
we set up a tent with a company banner
or logo on it?
Definitely,
we encourage it. This is a great opportunity to network and promote your
business. Selling of any products is, however, not permitted at the event.
Do
I have to be a runner to compete?
No,
we have many participants that jog/walk or just walk. However, we do ask
that for scheduling reasons, walkers do not enter the 5k race.
Who
organizes the company team?
Each
company designates a ‘team captain’ and that captain would be the
point of contact for us to ensure that all paperwork is completed.
How
do we enter a team?
The
first thing to do is contact Yvonne at the YMCA. She will send you an
entry packet, you’ll complete it and send it back. Then all you have
to do is show up on June 19th to compete. |
